Advancing cancer prevention, education, and research.
Uttarayan Cancer Foundation is a home for professionals, students, families, and researchers working to find cancer earlier and to support people through it.
We work so that people in Uttarakhand, and the clinicians who care for them, can meet cancer earlier — with better knowledge and practical support.
What UCF does
Four kinds of work, one foundation.
Prevention
Tobacco, HPV, screening, schools, and outreach that includes a path for abnormal results.
Knowledge
Plain-language pages on seven cancers, plus nutrition, activity, and mental health.
Teaching
CME, grand rounds, tumour boards, nursing, palliative care, and community health workers.
Research
Clinical, population, registry, and digital questions, with room for students.
Programme footprint
What this site holds today.
These figures describe the website’s programmes. They are not clinical outcomes. Verified impact numbers will be published when UCF releases them.
Knowledge centre
Start with the cancer you need to understand.
Breast cancer
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers. Many people do well when a change is checked early and treatment is planned for the specific type and stage.
Head and neck cancer
These cancers can start in the mouth, throat, voice box, nose, or sinuses. In India, tobacco, areca nut, and alcohol are major risks. Some throat cancers are linked to HPV.
Oral cancer
Oral cancer is a leading cancer in India and is closely tied to tobacco and areca nut. A mouth change that lasts more than two weeks should be seen, even if it does not hurt.
Lung cancer
Lung cancer is strongly linked to smoking, but it also occurs in people who have never smoked. Persistent chest symptoms should not be written off as a long cold.
Cervical cancer
Cervical cancer is largely preventable. Long-lasting infection with high-risk HPV is the main cause. Vaccination and screening find problems before they become cancer.
Gastrointestinal cancers
This pathway covers cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, and bowel. Symptoms are often ordinary at first — difficulty swallowing, indigestion, a change in bowels — which is why persistence matters.
Childhood cancer
Cancers in children are uncommon, and families rarely cause them through diet or routine life. The useful public step is to recognise warning signs and reach a hospital that treats children with cancer.
